At Last, Okemah! production news on reelchicago.com

The excellent Chicago movie website reelchicago.com has a story about the production of At Last, Okemah!, not to mention a snazzy pic of Kevin Viol. Check it out:

Wrap party / Advanced Sneak Preview of Okemah!

I am pleased to announce that we will be having a wrap party for At Last, Okemah! next Tuesday, June 16th, at 9:00pm. Appropriately, the party will be held at one of the film's central locations, The Hungry Brain, and will include an advanced sneak preview screening of the film!
Please feel free to invite a guest - although I would prefer it if you do not publicize the event too widely. This is a SNEAK preview of the movie; the sound mix will probably not be 100% complete and we would like to save the status of Official Premiere for a fall festival screening. Nonetheless, I hope you all can come out to drink, be merry and celebrate the completion of the film. This is a great chance for everyone who worked on (or donated money) to At Last, Okemah! to see the fruits of your labor.
The address of the Hungry Brain is 2319 W. Belmont Ave. For those of you who weren't on set, that's just east of Western Ave. on Belmont.
And remember, the film is only 15 minutes long so don't be late or you'll miss it!
Thanks again to everyone who helped out and I hope to see you all there,
MGS

Woody Guthrie is coming back into style

This item appeared on the front page of USA Today's Life section on the final day of shooting At Last, Okemah!

http://www.usatoday.com/life/music/news/2009-05-28-guthrie-remasters_N.htm

It appears Woody Guthrie is becoming popular again, just in time to coincide with the release of our movie. As our Economist might point out, these kind of things do tend to happen during "recessions and depressions". Could it be that the concept for Okemah!, hatched during the Clinton administration, is going to capture the zeitgeist ten years later? Hmmmm.
Regardless, I'm looking forward to hearing these remastered recordings.

Production is wrapped!

I'm happy to report production officially wrapped on At Last, Okemah! last night around 8:30pm in the far western suburbs of Chicago. Needless to say, I am mentally and emotionally exhausted. I am also incredibly excited to share this movie with everyone, as Kevin and I have already done a lot of post-production work and therefore all work on the movie will be completed very soon.

There should be a major update on this website today, featuring a "Director's Statement" and a ton of new photos from yesterday's shoot (including photos from Jon Langford's hilarious faux-interview).

There will also be an official wrap party / invitation only screening of the complete film in about two weeks time. Yes, you read that correctly. Two weeks. Stay tuned for info.
